Lord Mayor’s Parade was on Saturday 21st June 2009
Bradford City Centre From 11am
The Lord Mayor's Parade takes to the streets of Bradford city centre in an unforgettable extravaganza of colour and music with an array of creative costumes and floats. This year's theme is 'building bridges' which has been applied to hundreds of fabulous new costumes by over 1,500 secondary school children, interpreting the theme through pattern food and music .
Starting once again from Crown Court Plaza (behind the Great Victoria Hotel) at 11am the parade has a new, improved route around the city centre, which offers some great vantage points and views along the way.
The parade will end by covering the full length of Market Street, before entering Centenary Square for a spectacular climax of stage performances.
Some of the highlights of this event include:
* Costumes with an environmental theme
* "Who Do We Think We Are?" - Schools Linking Network's exploration of identity
* A specially commissioned poem by the Bradford Poet Laureate
* A programme of post-parade performances on stage in Centenary Square
* and of course, The Lord Mayor of Bradford leading the parade.
