The aircraft flying was the The Lancaster - PA474 and Supermarine Spitfire Mk Vb AB910 (Hurricane not identified yet). The Spitfire is on the right as they approach.

Spitfire AB910 was built in 1941. In December 1941 it flew on convoy patrols escorting bombers on daylight raids on the battle cruiser Scharnhorst. From June 1942 was at 133 (Eagle) Squadron, Biggin Hill. AB910 was involved in the D–Day invasion in June 1944 flying over the Normandy beachheads.
