Haworth's "Alternative" Village Calendar
We would like to tell you about the charity “Calendar Girls Style” Calendar that is being organised to raise money towards the £1.2m required for Haworth's St Michael and All Angels Parish Church Restoration fund.
The idea will be to feature people either living or working in Haworth in local (iconic) scenes in and around Bronte country in order for it to appeal to the tourist market and to local people alike. Obviously, it will all be done in the best possible taste!
So far, we have had volunteers from various organisations including the Firefighters, Bell Ringers and the Parish Councillors (although that could be John Huxley on his own!): several businesses on Main Street and individuals from the village. Kersti Mitchell, who is a former resident of Haworth has agreed to participate as has Steve Thorpe local gardening celebrity, so there will be coverage from BBC Look North at least.
Local resident and National media photographer, Paul Barker, has generously offered his time and expertise to take the photos supported as and when by Ian Palmer.
We have been given a quote for printing but would welcome other quotes for the print or help with the cost of printing in exchange for increased profiling in the project. Please contact Liz Barker (Worth and Aire Valley Magazines, (01535 642227)
If anyone would like to help in other ways – maybe you would like to be in the calendar, help with securing business sponsors, distribution, an article for your publication, a venue for meetings, or even just helpful suggestions, please contact: HaworthCalendar@aol.com.
Also, we are looking for contributions to help fund the set up costs, etc so that any money made is for the Haworth Church Restoration Fund.
The fundraising is extremely important, but it is not just about money, it’s also about the community working together in a way that is beneficial to all, and raising the profile of Haworth and the Bronte region in general. We also want to introduce a feel good factor to the village and give people something to smile about for a change!
