About Haworth West Lane Baptist Amateur Operatic Society
The Society perform a Gilbert and Sullivan Operetta every November and a Spring concert in May.
There are more than 50 members in the Society but we will welcome new members who would like to join the singing cast or to help back stage. There is always a job for anyone who is willing to join.
We have some young people in our society, but there is always room for more. We meet every Wednesday from 7.30pm to 9.30pm from the end of February to late November to rehearse for the productions.
We have plenty social activities going on during the year, which brings us all together for fun evenings.

Our next event is Patience. See below for more details.

The Pirates of Penzance November 2015
The Society performed the Pirates of Penzance to packed audiences each night. The whole production was an outstanding success and was thoroughly enjoyed by both cast and audience. The Society performed a concert version of the production at Baildon Methodist Church a week later, which was very well received by the full audience.

Our Spring Concert 'Out of the Box' was well received by a good audience.

We had some good social events last year and look forward to more entertaining evenings this year.

Whats On
Our next production is our annual Gilbert and Sullivan show PATIENCE

at Haworth West Lane Baptist Church

On Monday 14th to 19th November at 7.30pm

Matinee performance on Saturday May 19th at 2.15pm

Patience or Bunthorne's Bride is a comic operetta in 2 acts. One of Gilbert & Sullivanís most successful shows, Patience is a rollicking satire that pits the straight-laced ideals of the Victorian era against the passions and indulgences of the 1870s Aesthetic Movement, ridiculing each side of the spectrum. All of the maidens in the village are besotted with Reginald Bunthorne, a moody and handsome poet, but he only has eyes for the simple milkmaid, Patience. The problem? Bunthorneís artistic ways are all just an act to attract women to him--he doesnít even like poetry! Besides, Patience is in love with her childhood sweetheart, who happens to be a real poet named Archibald Grosvenor, but feels she cannot marry him because he is just too perfect. In the meantime, the platoon of Heavy Dragoon Guards that were meant to marry the village maidens find themselves dismayed and perplexed by their sudden loss of prospects. One of Gilbert & Sullivanís most successful shows, Patience is a rollicking satire that pits the straight-laced ideals of the Victorian era against the passions and indulgences of the 1870s Aesthetic Movement, ridiculing each side of the spectrum.
