IN MOTION Keighley Transport Festival
2022 is the 90th anniversary of the end of Keighley Borough Council operating its own municipal motorbuses and ‘tracklesses’ (trolleybuses) and the creation of the new jointly owned bus company Keighley-West Yorkshire Services Ltd.
To represent the 90th anniversary the following vehicles will be on display at Keighley College car park in Dalton Lane during IN MOTION Keighley Transport Festival on Thursday 2nd and Friday 3rd June 2022.
• Replica 1913 Keighley Corporation Cedes Stoll single deck trackless (kindly supplied by Sandtoft Trolleybus Museum).
• Cosmetically restored 1924 Keighley Corporation No. 5 Straker Clough double deck trackless (kindly supplied by Keighley Bus Museum Trust).
• Restored 1927 Blythe & Berwick Leyland Lion single deck motorbus (kindly supplied by Aire Valley Transport Group).
• Restored 1932 Keighley-West Yorkshire K451 Leyland TD2 double deck motorbus (kindly supplied by Keith Jenkinson).
This will be the first time these 4 vehicles have ever appeared together.
IN MOTION Keighley Transport Festival is a multi-site event featuring vintage and veteran cars in Cliffe Castle Park, Renaissance Motorcycles in the Airedale Shopping Centre, working short boat Kennet at Stockbridge Wharf on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal, K&WVR steam & diesel trains at Rail Story Ingrow; working model railways and ‘Ten Travel Tales of Keighley’ in the Keighley Civic Centre and 'tracklesses' and motorbuses based in Keighley or which worked into Keighley between 1913 and modern times on the Keighley College car park. “This will be the biggest Heritage Transport gathering ever organised in Keighley and it is also a great free show for the entire Keighley Community”
said Festival Co-ordinator Graham Mitchell. “Entry to all six Festival sites is free and a 15 mins-frequency free bus service linking all Festival sites will be provided from 10.00 to 17.00 by The Keighley Bus Company.”
