History Walk - Haworth and Oxenhope Mills - Haworth and Oxenhope

UWVHG HISTORY WALKSUPPER WORTH VALLEY HISTORY GROUP WALKS 2013

Steven Wood and Ian Palmer again invite you (entirely at your own risk!) to join them for another series of free historical walks in the Haworth area. They are all on Wednesdays in March and April. Be prepared for cold and wet weather and wear walking boots - several of the walks have some rough moorland walking in them. Take a packed lunch and hot drink.

March 13th Some Haworth and Oxenhope Mills - 6 miles
Meet at Haworth Visitor Information centre at the top of Main Street at 10 a.m.
A look at some of Haworth's mills and Oxenhope's iconic Dunkirk Mill.

March 20th The Quarries of Nab Hill - 6½ miles
Meet at Oxenhope bus terminus at 10.30 a.m.
The 500 bus which leaves Keighley at 10.05 a.m. and Haworth KWVR Station at 10.18 a.m. will get you there in time.
Chris Mace will be guiding us round the quarrying remains at Nab and Fly of which he has recently made a detailed study.

March 27th Top Withins and the Alcomden Stones. - 5 miles
Meet on Back Lane, Stanbury just below Bully Trees (SE002365) at 10 a.m.
The 664 bus which leaves Keighley at 9.25 a.m. and Haworth KWVR Station at 9.38 a.m. will get you there in time. The meeting place is about 600 yards up Back Lane from the Stanbury bus terminus.
Exploring the ancient farming settlement of Withins which Steven Wood has been studying over the past year.

April 3rd NO WALK

April 10th Oxenhope Stoop and Top of Stairs - 7 miles
Meet at the bottom of Haworth Main Street near the Old Hall at 10 a.m.
A walk along the Haworth-Oxenhope boundary to Oxenhope Stoop returning by Stairs Lane.

April 17th The Lad of Crow Hill - 6 ½ miles
Meet on Back Lane, Stanbury just below Bully Trees (SE002365) at 10 a.m.
The 664 bus which leaves Keighley at 9.25 a.m. and Haworth KWVR Station at 9.38 a.m. will get you there in time. The meeting place is about 600 yards up Back Lane from the Stanbury bus terminus.
A visit to the Lad of Crow Hill and Ponden Clough.

April 24th Across Haworth Township on packhorse trails - 7 miles
Meet at Oakworth bus terminus at 10.10 a.m.
Use the 665 bus leaves Keighley at 9.45 and Haworth KWVR Station at 9.58.
NB - Do not park cars at Oakworth as we will not be returning - the walk ends in Haworth.
