The next Keighley Playhouse production is based around a team building exercise.
Neville’s Island is a testosterone driven comedy about a group of businessmen who find themselves marooned on an island and try to come to terms with each other's irritating little foibles. It's a temperamental cauldron which takes seconds to boil over and when it does, it's impossible not to laugh.
Neville’s Island brings to mind the novel ‘Lord of the Flies’ in that William Golding uses children to show man’s capable descent into disorder and savagery. The Keighley Playhouse production of Neville’s Island chooses to use four adult men to do near on the same. There’s Neville, the team leader whose inability to see the plain truth turns out to be a paradoxical blessing; Angus, the Mr Average, materialistic, repressed domesticated nerd; Roy, vacuously born again after a don't-mention-the-breakdown episode in his past; and the macho, sarcastic Gordon whose acerbity fuels the humour.
