Salmon Leaping at Ribble river Stainforth North Yorkshire. Late September onwards is usually the best time to see the salmon leaping, it is good going a day or two after heavy rain, the salmon are returning upstream to spawn. They have journeyed from the open sea to the entrance to the Ribble river a length of 75 miles away near Southport.
