West Yorkshire Nature – Fungi
Fungi are neither plant nor animals, they feed on organic matter by releasing enzymes, a chemical used to break down whatever they are feeding on. They grow in damp woodland and grassy meadows and can be seen in Autumn.
Some species are edible and others poisonous, it is not advisable to pick unless you are an expert.
