Storm clouds - Cumulonimbus

Cumulonimbus clouds bring weather such as lightning, heavy rain, and hail.

A recognisable feature is the anvil shape at the top of the cloud, the cloud can reach heights in excess of 10 miles where jet stream winds "sculpt" them.

Inside the cloud air currents are condensing and freezing the water. Powerful rising warm air swirls upwards to the cool layer of the cloud, the cooling air produces strong downdraughts.
