Curlew - March - Haworth Moor


Curlew

Streaked brown markings with a noticeable long down curved bill. In the winter the Curlew moves to coastal areas.

Usually seen on moorland and pasture.

The name Curlew is due to the sound it makes which is the first clue to its presence, you are likely to see it in flight as is a well camouflaged bird.

Length: 55cm

5th March 2009 Curlew seen at Ponden. 8th March 2009 seen on Haworth moor. 13th March 2010 at Haworth moor.
