Pheasant

Pheasant are not native to Britain and it is unclear when they were introduced. They may have been brought here by the Romans, they are first recorded in 1059.

Pheasant is a gamebird and as such are managed for the sport, reared pheasants are released ready for the shooting season which is from October 1st to February 1st.
