Kestrel

Kestrel - April - Haworth, Penistone

Kestrel

Can be seen hovering over the moors as well as near to Haworth village. They hover head into wind, swooping down on its prey. They have excellent eyesight but can also see different light spectrum to us. For example mouse urine is seen as a colour trail and helps the Kestrel identify where they are located.

Top picture is a Kestrel on a dive attack, middle picture the bird is hovering and bottom picture is a Kestrel which has just killed a frog.

Length 38 cm
