Lunar eclipse

Lunar eclipse - March - Haworth

Lunar eclipse

A total lunar eclipse occurred on 3rd March 2007, clear skies meant it was clearly visible from Haworth.

The phenomenon occurs when the Earth passes directly between the Moon and the Sun. The Moon does not completely disappear from sight due to the refraction of sunlight from the Earth's atmosphere. The amount of refracted light is dependent on the amount of dust and clouds in the atmosphere, which causes the moon to glow a reddish hue.
